Pastor - Steve Beard

Stephen was called as our Pastor in September of 2017. He and his wife, Amy, were married in June 1988 and together have been blessed with three sons, Joey, Chris and Declan. Stephen and Amy have two super grandchildren, Colton and Makayla.

Stephen served in various roles in the church before surrendering to God’s call to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was ordained at First Baptist Church, Arcadia in 2014. Stephen is a graduate from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Training and experience have built a strong commitment to the local church into Stephen’s heart and he is passionate about helping people discover the immense joy to be had in being a follower of Christ. Steve seeks to be a passionate communicator of God’s Word, to encourage people on to serious discipleship, and to foster a love for the Gospel that seeks to spread the name of Jesus.

Philemon 1:6 "I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ."

 


 

Worship Leaders - Jamie and Nicole White

Jamie White is our worship leader. He has lived in Claiborne Parish for his entire life. He is married to Nicole White who also serves as the children’s worship leader at Calvary.

Jamie has been a local business owner for 25 years, before that, he worked with his dad who started the construction business in the early 90’s.

He accepted Jesus Christ when he was 16 years old at First Baptist Church Homer and was baptized by Bro. Jimmy Simeon, who is one of his most admired mentors.

Jamie plays guitar, banjo, and piano. He also has a great singing voice. Jamie’s favorite bible verses are too many to mention. Jamie loves being a part of the Calvary Baptist family!

 

Nicole White is our children’s worship leader. She has lived in Claiborne Parish her entire life. She is married to Jamie White who also serves as worship leader at Calvary. Nicole is a teacher at Homer Elementary School where she teaches math to her 1st graders.

She accepted Jesus Christ when she was 13 years old and rededicated her life through baptism on July 9, 2023. She has been involved at Calvary Baptist with the children’s choir for 1 year and just recently started helping with children’s church. Her love for children shows in the work she does.

Her favorite bible verse is Hebrews 6:19 “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure”.

 


 

Youth Ministers  - Christopher and Cristin Jefferson

Christopher and Cristin Jefferson were married, in 2012, and have one son. They were called to Calvary Baptist of Homer in 2023 and became members shortly after. “After just a few visits, we knew this was the church we wanted to call home.”

They were then called to lead our youth group after attending YEC. “There was just something so special about each and every one of them that we couldn’t help but want to be a part in their walk with the Lord.”

“When we aren’t at church or have a house full of kids, we are usually fishing, hunting, or spending time with our family.”

“Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it” Proverbs 22:6

 

 


 

Audio/Visual   - Morgana Burch

Morgana Burch , takes care of the Audio/Visual need of Calvary Baptist Church. Morgana accepted Christ into her heart when she was 9 years old. Morgana is very involved in Calvary Baptist church, with the youth, children, and adults.

When she's not running our audio/visual system she enjoys crafting, reading, and taking pictures.

Morgana shares her faith and love for Christ everywhere she goes. She lives by her favorite saying “Let go and Let God.”

Her favorite bible verse is Matthew 17:20 “He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

 

 


 

Secretary/Clerk   - Christy Coleman

Christy Coleman was born in Shreveport, LA and raised in a Christian home. She accepted Christ at 8 years old and was baptized at Baptist Tabernacle in Shreveport, LA. She is the wife of Edward Coleman. She has four children and four grandchildren.

She is employed with Claiborne Parish School Board where she taught in a classroom for 5 years, was an instructional coach for one year, and now serves as assistant principal at Homer Junior High School.

She is an active member of the Ladies Ministry and choir. She is also a co-teacher of the Adult IV Sunday School class here at Calvary Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, artistry of many kinds, and spending time with her family.
